  • Dongle doesn`t work with new system

hi guys, I just bought a new machine with win 8.1 and usb 3.0 in it and that machine doesn't recognize the dongle. unplugging and replugging the dongle works from time to time but most of the time I don't get it to work. I installed the latest wibu drivers from december 2013 but can't get it to work properly. Any hints on that?

    thanks

edit: I work with the latest 3.0 beta for maya 2014 from the nightlies
edit2: by the way: isn't there any subforum for the beta 3.0?
    best regards,
    sacha

Please make sure that you have the latest driver for USB 3.0 installed and the latest WIBU-KEY driver installed:
    http://www.wibu.com/downloads-user-software.html

Check under Windows Device Manager if the dongle is properly recognized by the OS.
If the dongle is recognized but the device gets suspender once in a while, please check the following:
Disable option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" , from Device Manager under Universal serial Bus Controllers
Right click on each USB Root Hub and select Properties ,select Power Management tab.
Remove the check mark next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", then click OK option then check if the USB ports works.

Another option to disable is "USB selective suspends settings" option in the Power Options.
Please click Windows Start, type Power Options in the Search box and then click Power Options from the returned list
Click Change plan settings for the selected Power plan
    Click Change advanced power settings
Expand USB settings and then USB selective suspend setting and change the setting to Disabled for the option for On battery: or Plugged in:
Click OK on the Power Settings window and click Save changes on the Edit Plan Settings window.

Let us know if this helps.

      unfortunately no.

When I restart the system I always have to unplug and replug the dongle and after that I have to start the vrlservice to get the dongle recognized. If I start the service before I unplugged/replugged the dongle it still doesn't work. Regardless whether I do it in with or without the pluggstuff the key is recognized by the system (device manager).
Also when I don't plug-unplug before starting the service, after a reboot, the wibu control panel won't show up. When I then plug out the dongle, the control panel shows up, but of course with an error beacause I removed the dongle. If i don`t plug it out after 20 seconds a window pops up saying "searching for WibuBoxes, System: (Lokal), Connection: USB, WibuBox: 1" after 2 minutes a new window pops up, saying "error WK1204 WibuBox has an invalid version".
If I un-/replug the dongle now and restart the control panel it works perfect.
So I did all the energy stuff you recommended but the problem still exists
      best regards,
      sacha
